Step 2: Obsess

Published on 4 April 2025 at 18:39

I am embarrassed (or proud, perhaps? Let's go with proud) to announce that since my last post I have spent over 16 hours in the PC Building Simulator game. The good news is that it wound up REALLY helping me contextualize what I have been learning about the different parts, and where they go, and how they interact with each other. The bad news is that I am fairly certain my legs have atrophied. Such is the price we pay. Ultimately, I feel it was time well spent for how significantly it has helped me.

I've also completed another week's Discussion Post and got some work done on the project that is due on Sunday this week. The learning curve has been STEEP this term. The coursework is like learning the alphabet in the reading material, and then having to compose a sonnet for the projects. But so far I am keeping up and have only missed less than one point in total for the entire term. Not freaking bad. But I have to admit feeling a kind of way about the number of my peers that flagrantly just copy/paste AI generated content and submit it wholesale as their own work in the Discussions. It's not even subtle, and it definitely feels unbalanced that I am doing all this work to actually learn the material only to have the same grade as someone who is putting in zero effort. I know it will pay off when it comes time to take the certification exams, but I am human and it's an annoyance in the meantime LOL.

I still have quite a bit of work to do on the project, but I at least have another 2.5 days to get the rest of it done. For now, it's time to stretch my legs and go squint into the sunlight and stretch my legs or touch some grass or something. Shake the blood clot out of my leg that I am certain has developed over the last 24 hours. If you are reading this, chances are you should probably go touch some grass today too, nerd.

Until next time,
